Better brakes less dust

EBC Sport Discs, Dimpled and Slotted

EBC’s unique wide aperture slots actually pull cool air under the pad surface and help pad and disc cooling. EBC’s “Blind Drilled” dimples help break down surface gases but do not promote cracking, which has been shown to occur with “Through Drilled” discs.

A unique feature of the EBC disc is that the slots extend completely to the outer edge of the disc, which allows any dirt, dust gases, grit or debris from heavy braking to exit the pad braking area. This ensures flat and parallel wear of the pads throughout their wear life and use.

All EBC sport discs are gold zinc anodised to prevent the discs from corrosion in areas not swept by the brake pad. Optimum brake performance is realised after the zinc coating has been removed from the pad track area which can take up to 200 miles. It is normal that a small amount of noise is exhibited from EBC slotted rotors when they are first applied. This noise gradually diminishes and at around 1,000 miles of road use the noise will be minimal. By nature of the way this product works, EBC sport slotted discs will always make “some” noise and this is not cause for concern, it is not a safety issue and it is not covered by warranty.

Although a full race material and capable of high temperature use with very good wear life, this new formulation sets a new trend in race type brake pad compounds. The “bite” from cold is superb which is uncommon with race materials (normally requiring warm-up) and makes this a pad which can be safely used on the highway as well as on the race track. This new formulation was used by numerous championship race and rally drivers in 2004 and is truly a milestone in brake pad material development.

What’s new

• EDGE CHAMFERS - many OEM pads have edge chamfers which prevent low speed brake noise caused by pad “bounce”. Contrary to expectation edge chamfers DO NOT reduce pad life and in some cases have even been found to enhance pad wear life as the pad operates more efficiently.
• POWDER COAT PAINT - the new glasslike finish on all EBC powder coated pads has delivered a pad that is completely resistant to corrosion. Powder coat simply lasts forever. Pads look good for their entire wear life.
• BRAKE-IN COATING - this new mild abrasive red
  coating applied to the surface of green and red pads since mid-2004 helps pads bed-in quickly after installation.
• NOISE REDUCTION SHIMS - certain part numbers in the green range and ALL part numbers in the Redstuff Ceramic range now carry black noise reduction shims on the reverse.

Branded with the Greenstuff or Redstuff logos, the EBC aramid fibre automotive brake pads are unique in their construction using hi-tech fibres such as Dupont® Kevlar® and Twaron®. Kevlar® for example is a high tech man-made aramid fibre that is 6 times as strong as steel when used in a matrix form, impervious to oils and chemicals, and can withstand temperatures over 1000° yet is extremely low in abrasion. EBC 6000 SERIES HEAVY DUTY GREENSTUFF FOR 4 X 4

An excellent solution for 4x4 use, this heavy duty Greenstuff formulation has slightly lower friction than its 2000 series counterpart but has the benefit of longer life and better resistance to offroad conditions of dust and sand etc. It has an extremely low rotor wear factor and medium-to-good lifetime.
